Overview

Lean Six Sigma BLACK BELT is a globally recognised qualification. It is designed to validate your ability to lead complex value adding improvement projects that positively impact the business objectives of organisations.

Soarent Vision's Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is formal recognition that an individual has demonstrated clear understanding and proficiency in the application of the Lean Six Sigma body of knowledge to a standard of governance relevant to a Black Belt level improvement professional.

The Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB)

The Certified LSSBB is a business improvement professional who:

• Can clearly explain the philosophies and principles of Lean and Six Sigma
• Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with both Lean and Six Sigma principles
• Can effectively facilitate a complex improvement project and lead a project team that generates quantifiable value for an organisation
• Is able to effectively utilise a broad range of Lean and Six Sigma tools (including advanced statistics) to remove waste and significantly increase the performance of core business processes
• Is able to guide Green Belt level practitioners in their application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies

Requirements for Certification

Certification is open to anybody provided they can meet the specified standard. The requirements of a Soarent Vision Certified LSSBB are:

• Has at least 3 years of practical working experience
• Is certified as having completed formal Black Belt training with a reputable training provider
• Has (a) led 2 completed Lean Six Sigma projects that have returned quantifiable value to a business OR has (b) led 1 completed Lean Six Sigma project that has returned quantifiable value to a business and has at least 2 years of practical experience in applying Lean Six Sigma methodology
• Can produce signed Affidavits to validate their project completion and the quantified value returned by their work
• Is able to demonstrate their knowledge of the Lean Six Sigma body of knowledge relevant to the level of Black Belt as defined by Soarent Vision

If you are already a Soarent Vision Certified LSSGB, you will only need to complete the LSSBB portion of the Examination.

The Process

Undertaking Soarent Vision's LSSBB Certification involves a number of simple steps.

1. Register and obtain a Certification Kit (see below for registration)
2. Submit your application for certification (relevant forms are provided in your certification kit)
3. Choose an examination date and advise Soarent Vision of the preferred examination centre
4. Prepare for the examination (a study guide is provided in your certification kit)
5. Sit the examination on the date chosen

Examination

Every candidate is required to pass a written examination that consists of a combination of multiple choice questions, problem solving questions and interpretation questions that are designed to indicate the candidates comprehension of the body of knowledge.

• Examinations are offered in the English language only
• Examinations are conducted 2 times per year (in June and December) by Soarent Vision in major cities or internally with an appointed examination supervisor
• GB and full BB examinations are conducted at the same time and in the same location
• All examinations are open-book
• Candidates are required to work alone
• Each candidate must bring his or her own reference materials, text books, computer and software - the use of these resources is explained in examination joining instructions

The body of knowledge tested in the examination is drawn from the following 3 text books.

• Process Alchemy with Lean Six Sigma - 2nd Edition
• Process Mastery with Lean Six Sigma - 2nd Edition
• It's Still Not a Problem - Systematic Problem Solving for Business

A study guide is provided for candidates upon registration. It details the body of knowledge relevant to the level of examination chosen.
